3 Little things

I love to do this. In fact since Friday I can think of 3 little
things I have done to help others. On Friday my SIL and I went up to
Chicago for the day. On our way home we paid the next two cars toll.
It was fun to watch in the mirror as they tried to pay. Later we
were stuck in traffic and they honked and waved at us.

Yesterday I was driving home from picking up my daughter from
preschool and passed a lady and her young daughter walking down the
road with out any sidewalks. It was about 40 degrees out and windy so
I stopped and asked if they needed a ride. She accepted. It turned
out they had walked all the way to the school to enroll the daughter
in school and were on their way back. They had just moved in to the
area and barely knew how to get back their house.

Then last night I went to the Redbox machine and a guy was standing
there when I got there. I asked if he was using the machine and he
said he was just checking it out as he had never used it before. I
went ahead and got my movie and then told him a code for free one
night rental so he could try it. He was very grateful and happily
rented his movie. This is one of my favorite things to do is hand out
the free one night rental code at the machine and then tell them about
going on line to find codes.

In the past we have done lots of things, like giving easter baskets
to a family in my husband's military unit who were having a hard time,
paying for some one else in the drive through, donating left over
fertility meds to some one so they could have their miracle, I planned
a baby shower for the lady that works for my husband and had never
met her, I love doing things to surprise and help people. Can't wait
to read other's stories for more ideas.

Making A Difference

Once upon a time there was a wise man who used to go to the ocean to do his writing. He had a habit of walking on the beach before he began his work.

One day he was walking along the shore. As he looked down the beach, he saw a human figure moving like a dancer. He
smiled to himself to think of someone who would dance to the day.

So he began to walk faster to catch up. As he got closer, he saw that it was a young man and the young man wasn't dancing, but instead he was reaching down to the shore, picking up something and very gently throwing it into the ocean.

As he got closer he called out, "Good morning! What are you doing?"

The young man paused, looked up and replied, "Throwing starfish in the ocean."

"I guess I should have asked, why are you throwing starfish in the ocean?"

"The sun is up and the tide is going out. And if I don't throw them in they'll die."

"But, young man, don't you realize that there are miles and miles of beach and starfish all along it. You can't possibly make a difference!"

The young man listened politely. Then bent down, picked up another starfish and threw it into the ocean, past the breaking waves and said - "It made a difference for that one."

CAN YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE TODAY?
